Ok i need your help here everyone.
It seems like we now have a better understanding of our assignment and how we are going to present it. The initial idea of each writing a lesson plan has obviously changed. The idea of a Literacy and ICT lesson (the lesson i originally said i would write) seems silly now as literacy like everything else should be integrated. I really like the lesson sequence that Fiona has suggested. I'm feeling like i need to contribute more to the content of our assignment.
If i was to look at the 4th lesson in our sequence could we get the students come together as a whole class and present their ideas to the group. Perhaps show their power points & rockets to each other or give a little talk.
Am i on the right track??? (kim)
Hi Kim, yes coming together for the last lesson sounds good, I imaged the students sharing their powerpoints and learning as a means to consolidate what they have all learnt. A part of learning is being able to share ideas, knowledge etc, reporting back to the class using powerpoints builds on students' literacy skills of speaking, listening as well as writing for a specific purpose with a set audience. The use of powerpoints also develops the students skills as presenters. Wow, they're really useful for literacy development in many ways, not just a pretty way to 'do your work'. Fiona Could also try to round the lesson off with a section on extending student learning, knowledge and understanding by revisiting the first lessons when we were tuning in and compare past knowledge with what we know now (?) Hope this makes sense! and plan further lessons to extend and enrich student learning and understanding linking the whole unit together. As the reflection connect their learning to real life making it more meaningful by presenting it to a set audience (as Fiona mentioned)Something like sharing their powerpoints with each other, the members the class, the wider community (such as parents) as a whole school event (at a school assembly). Hi So sorry i couldnt get on the chat last night kept cutting out was in Mount Gambier and my wireless internet had hardly any signal. I just need a little push. I think after reading all of the info we are suggesting not to use our lesson plans but instead put it into sequence is this correct or am i reading incorrectly please let me know . Thanks Tara
